The Directors of 5 Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) in Education for Sustainable Development across the United Kingdom (RCE Cymru-Wales
, RCE Scotland
, RCE London
, RCE East Midlands
) and Ireland (RCE Dublin
) held their second annual meeting at an event in Swansea University in Wales on the 3rd
of July 2019. The Director of RCE Dublin, Dr. Charlotte Holland, reported that it was evident that there existed multiple opportunities for collaboration across the RCEs on many of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined within Agenda 2030
. Furthermore, there was consensus that engagement in joint projects across the RCEs that addressed issues of common concern across the two islands would be very much welcomed, particularly in light of the impending exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union later this year. Discussions on the nature and format of these projects is to be discussed at an upcoming meeting in September 2019.
